Does EDF work with other environmental groups?

We work in concert with other organizations—as well as with business, government and communities—and avoid duplicating work already being done effectively by others.

Where does EDF gets its money?

The vast majority of our donations come from foundation grants, individual contributions and membership. Additionally, we receive approximately 7% of our funding from investments, government and other grants, and planned giving. For more information, please visit edf.org/finances.

What is the difference between EDF and EDAF?

Environmental Defense Action Fund is affiliated with Environmental Defense Fund, but is technically a separate entity. The two groups have a separate board of directors and receive separate funding. Environmental Defense Action Fund has the same goals as Environmental Defense Fund, but it is able to pursue a strategy that advances these same environmental issues through legislative channels. As with all 501c3 organizations, all donations made to Environmental Defense Fund are tax deductible. Donations made to Environmental Defense Action Fund, however, are not tax deductible. This is in line with the IRS regulations of 501c4 organizations because the money given to our Action Fund helps us win critical environmental victories in Congress. Therefore, we cannot combine the funding for both organizations.
